National Card and Letter Writing Month

It’s National Card and Letter Writing Month! This annual effort celebrates the glorious art of letter writing whilst promoting literacy. The writing, sending and receiving of letters, post cards and greeting cards is a practice that has preserved our nation’s history and changed lives. Unlike other forms of communications, card and letter writing is timeless, immediately tangible and perhaps most importantly, personal.

In honor of this (you know how we feel about letters here at FOR THE SENDER), it gives us enormous pleasure to announce an exciting collaboration with Erin Condren (www.erincondren.com). We’re asking you to put pen to paper, to be in with a chance of winning one of five fabulous prizes.

The winning entrant will receive a beautiful set of framed FOR THE SENDER lyrics, handwritten and signed by Alex Woodard. In addition to this, our winner will also receive a $200 gift voucher for Erin’s online store, where you will find the most fantastic stationery to cater to everyone’s taste. Our four runner’s up, will each receive a signed copy of FOR THE SENDER, as well as a $50 voucher for Erin Condren online.

To enter, all you need to do is write a handwritten letter to your 16 year old self, listing the things you know now, that you wish you’d known then – the things that could really help you on your journey. So what are you waiting for? Put down your computer and pick up a pen and paper today. Good Luck!

Alex Woodard Featured on Rap Genius

Today, Rap Genius is proud to feature the FOR THE SENDER project. This week Woodard makes his RG debut, annotating not only two chapters from the book—”The Letter” and “The Autumn”—but also the lyrics to three of the songs from the project (“Never Alone,” “My Love Will Find You,” and “FOR THE SENDER”). Packed with multimedia and moving anecdotes, Woodard’s RG “liner notes” complement the book, the studio recordings, and a live tour that has sold out every performance in its first several months.

Alex Woodard has toured nationally behind five critically-acclaimed albums, earning prestigious industry nods and sharing the stage with some of today’s most popular acts. His book/album package FOR THE SENDER features his story of release and redemption woven through songs written about real-life letters. When he’s not surfing in his beach town north of San Diego, Alex lives with a big dog and bigger horse in the mountains of Idaho.
